Adopt a lot
ApplicationBeautify Your Neighborhood
The Land Bank enjoys partnering with the community to put vacant lots to good use. Residents, community groups, and neighborhood leaders can adopt a lot from the Land Bank. The adopted lot can become a green space, a garden, or a play area. Some might just want to help us mow & maintain it.
Adopt-a-Lot Program
Our Adopt-a-Lot Program is a great way to beautify and improve your neighborhood. If you don’t want to own the lot or aren't eligible under our Side Lot Program, consider adopting a lot.
Our expectations are simple. You may use the lot to beautify your neighborhood, plant a personal or community garden, and as a play area. We do not allow you to park vehicles on the lot or install permanent items like fences, buildings, or driveways.
To be eligible, you must live nearby to the lot, but you do not have to live adjacent to it. If you own property, you must be current on your property taxes and the property must be free of nuisance conditions.
The Land Bank will make an annual visit to the lot to see the positive work that you are doing to benefit the neighborhood.
The Land Bank operates our Adopt-a-Lot Program in partnership with the City of Toledo. Often, the owner of a lot available to be adopted is the City of Toledo. But, regardless of the ownership status, residents enter into an Adopt-a-Lot Agreement with the Land Bank.
